We got her from someone who had found her on the street, she had been dumped when she was real tiny. Because of this, though, she came with a built in survival instinct- more than most cats have.
This survival instinct really helped her out living in the desert, for as you may guess there are many things and creatures for small animals to be on the look out for. Coyottes, hawks, and owls are just a few. This instinct not only helped her , but also her kittens- she was one of the best Mommy cats I have ever seen. She was attentive and loving and she taught her babies everything she knew- from survival to hunting- everything she felt they needed to know to take care of themselves. It was amazing to watch.
One time she had a litter of kittens the same time one of our other cats did. When Puff didn't think the other Mommy cat was doing things fast enough she would jump into the box with the other Mommy and help take care of her kittens. Now I don't mean the other mommy was a bad mother- it was just her first litter and I guess Puff just didn't think she was doing things fast enough or maybe she just liked helping. :) I'm not really sure. The cats were both friends and it didn't seem to bother the ather Mommy.
During this time a very sad thing happended. The other Mommy cat was hit by a car. Many of you who have pets know that they are very much a part of the family and we were all so sad to lose her. This also left her kittens without a Mommy. Before we even had time to figure out what to do Puff took over- she adopted the kittens and took care of them along with her own. She just jumped ritght in. they never went without love or attention.
When I stop and think about this story, it makes me think about the amazing love that God has for us and how He wants to take care of us. His love is not only amazing it is"everlasting"-always there. (Jeremiah 31:3) He is our helper. (Hebrews 13:6 )The Bible tells us that "God is love." 1 John 4:16 And "We love Him , because He first loved us." 1 John 4:19 I love that! He loved us "first"! He chose us. (John 15:16) Psalm 121:5 tells us that He is our keeper and our shade. (shelter) I like that, and there is something else - something wonderful- we are called the sons of God. "Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God..." (1John 3:1 and 1John 3:2) How does it make you feel to know that you are a part of God's family?! I did not know God until I grew up. All through school I felt like I never fit in anywhere. It was a horrible lonely feeling. But, in God's family I don't feel lonely- I fit in and it is a perfect fit!
In God's family - we are "all" important, loved and a perfect fit!
